Text Box: St. Charles Pharmaceuticals (SCP) is a Louisiana-based pharmaceutical/biotech company that develops novel, potent, selective pharmaceutical therapies with minimal side effects through an innovative research and development program utilizing advanced chemistry and biology. The Company was established within a biotech incubator in the Neuroscience Center at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and moved to the University of Florida Sid Martin Biotech Development Incubator in Alachua, FL following Hurricane Katrina. St. Charles Pharmaceuticals has been funded by over 2.73 M in NIH SBIR grants and a 4.3 M Series A round by a single private investor.  The Company has succeeded progressing its lead compound, SCP-1, a novel analgesic, in Phase I clinical safety studies.  A second-generation compound, SCP-123, is ready for IND-enabling studies.
St Charles Pharmaceuticals was founded by Nicolas G. Bazan (LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans) and Kenneth W. Narducy (San Jose, CA) in 1997.
